The Moot Court Project
Founded in 2014, the Moot Court Project is an interactive seminar in Long Beach designed to develop critical thinking and persuasive skills for disadvantaged youth. Volunteer attorneys help to teach legal writing, oral argument and advocacy to students, as well as serving as judges.
We are seeking volunteers to be team coaches and event Judges. Please see below for detailed descriptions of the requirements and expectations of each position.
Team Coaches: During the run of the Project, participants will be divided into teams of 2 and each team will receive an attorney Coach. Coaches assist the students in discussing the issues, responding to concept presentations and helping the participants develop and refine their ideas. Teams should meet at least weekly during the Project term. Click here to see a list of this year's important program dates
Judges: On the date of Oral Arguments, we will need Judicial Officers and Attorneys to volunteer to serve as Judges. The next presentation date is expected to be November 7, 2020.
